Inclusive Transition Pathways: Continuing Education after Secondary School for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
The INCLUSIVE-PATH project aims to enhance the transition of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) to post-secondary education (PSE)/Adult Learning & Education (ALE) through capacity building of educators and staff in Secondary Education (SE) and PSE, and empowerment of families and their children with IDDs. Beginning with needs finetuning and identification of capacity-building needs, the project gathers insights through focus groups and country reports to identify challenges and needs and develop tailored strategies. Capacity building targets educators and staff in both SE and PSE/ALE, providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to support students with IDDs effectively in the transition planning and implementation. This includes the creation of handbooks, workshops, and collaborative events to foster inclusive practices. Meanwhile, WP4 focuses on developing a 3D interactive digital game, “Pathways Explorers,” to provide key information, and engage families and their children with IDDs in meaningful discussions about transition pathways. The game, accompanied by a multimedia guide, is tested and refined in national workshops involving those target groups to ensure its effectiveness and accessibility. INCLUSIVE-PATH strives to create more inclusive and supportive environments for individuals with IDDs, facilitating their successful transition to PSE and beyond.
The project will last 36 months.
