Out of the Box International is looking for two experts to join the team in the implementation of two new exciting projects: SLUSIK and CI-You.

Subject: Development of project outputs

Project title: “Service Learning Upscaling Social Inclusion for Kids” (SLUSIK)

Assignment period: 1/4/2021 – 30/11/2022

Project description:

The purpose of the project SLUSIK is to promote and support social inclusion by enhancing the acquisition of social and civic competences and fostering knowledge, understanding and ownership of values and fundamental rights in school leavers. The 7 partners have decided to address this topic and theme due to a needs analysis undertaken as part of their experience and practice in engaging with young people in the formal and non-formal education sectors. The needs analysis shows that the lack of social and civic competencies amongst school leavers, and especially early school leavers, severely limits their capacity to become socially included adults. Service learning in higher education with a strong civic education component has proven to be effective at enhancing social and civic competencies.

Activities:

– Collaboration on publications with responsible partners

– Piloting Phase implementation

– Reporting

– Dissemination activities

Assignment period: 1/4/2021 – 30/11/2022

Project description:

The main aim of the CI-You project is to help further improve the level of green business culture in Europe by providing youth with knowledge and concepts in the field of Circular Economy.

Specifically:

  • To lead young people towards a more comprehensive knowledge of Circular Economy (CE) and make the topic attractive for them so that they will be able to promote and exploit career opportunities in this field;
  • To develop a clearly defined CE business strategy for young entrepreneurs towards the creation of ‘green’ jobs;
  • To create flexible learning resources, capable of providing, evaluating, and recognizing the key competencies that will enhance the capability of youth to employ themselves or to be employed in the CE sector.
  • To enable young people, educators, youth organisations, policy makers and other stakeholders to understand the principles and benefits of CE to the environment and to the economy.
  • To roll out the concept of CE business on a wider scale domestically and outside the EU, to support integrated policies and address current barriers to the implementation of the principles of CE into businesses strategy and goals.

  • Coordination and production of IO1
  • Collaboration for the provision and delivery of communication and dissemination tasks / events

Why Out of the Box International

The seemingly ever-lasting depression of European economies has shaken the very foundations of many European societies. The shear rate of unemployment in Europe and the omnipresent environmental crisis coupled with the often frustratingly slow process of decision making in the EU, are calling for civil society actors to step in and fill the void.

In the aftermath of the 2008. economic crisis, the apprehension of falling under the spell of apathy of economic depression across the continent has not been easy to shake off. However, pinpointing the culprits for the current state of affairs on any particular EU decision maker is not the answer. Nonetheless, the fact remains that the current approach to the economic and environmental crisis hasn’t yet shown the affected citizens the light at the end of the tunnel.

As representatives of the civil society we feel the need to make our voice heard in the midst of the current debate on economic crisis. Being a social enterprise we offer new and feasible ideas in education and community work, creative cross-sectorial cooperation among different actors and strong networking coalitions to turn these dire economic challenges into possibilities through social entrepreneurship initiatives which aim at benefiting wide range of citizens, particularly vulnerable groups and those affected by the economic crisis.

Social entrepreneurship is a simple concept that has been put into practice by civil society actors for the benefit of a specific social group or people, and this is precisely what we want: to create projects and initiatives with fresh ideas in different policies, educational programs or tools, support businesses, empower cultural initiatives and offer different solutions to individuals, corporate bodies, everybody who believe that we can have more Creative, Innovative and Cohesive Europe.
