OTB WEEK 2023 coming up!

The Out of the Box Week is returning after a period of absence as a set of activities and events for the Member Organisations and the Expert Pool of OTB. During the planned 4 days, we have planned a programme that joins the governing bodies’ activities, working group and expert meetings, the general assembly, a set of open events, workshops and panels.

The Out of the Box Week ‘23 will gather members of OTB, representatives of OTB Member Organisations and Experts for a programme of 20+ events involving the internal governing structures, member organisations and expert pool on the 19-22nd of September 2023 in Fažana.

Fažana is a fishing village on the southwestern coast of the Istrian peninsula, close to ancient Pula and the Brijuni islands – a national park. The town known as Fasana, which was called Vasianum in Roman times and later Phasiana, obtained its name due to the existence of ceramic and terracotta production during that period, including vases, tiles, and amphorae. This historical association with pottery is also represented in the town’s symbol, which features an amphora.

 

The participants will have the chance to partake in the following events:

  5. MOs and partners Cross-Sectoral Cooperation Space “European Year of Youth – fresh and promising practices”

  7. Conference “YOUTH from ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE”
  8. Erasmus + & Erasmus for young entrepreneurs
  9. Panels: “Straightening cooperation between youth NGOs and local and regional authorities”; “Service Learning in schools and community engagement of youth”; “Placing Youth Participatory Budgets in Cities”;
  10. Networking events
  11. Workshops: “How to get new perspectives when mentoring young people – Is youth work catching up with youth trends?”; “School practices and teaching 4.0, challenges and solutions?”; “How to improve your business using EU funding?”

 

Out of the Box Week ‘23 Events will be supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.

Why Out of the Box International

The seemingly ever-lasting depression of European economies has shaken the very foundations of many European societies. The shear rate of unemployment in Europe and the omnipresent environmental crisis coupled with the often frustratingly slow process of decision making in the EU, are calling for civil society actors to step in and fill the void.

In the aftermath of the 2008. economic crisis, the apprehension of falling under the spell of apathy of economic depression across the continent has not been easy to shake off. However, pinpointing the culprits for the current state of affairs on any particular EU decision maker is not the answer. Nonetheless, the fact remains that the current approach to the economic and environmental crisis hasn’t yet shown the affected citizens the light at the end of the tunnel.

As representatives of the civil society we feel the need to make our voice heard in the midst of the current debate on economic crisis. Being a social enterprise we offer new and feasible ideas in education and community work, creative cross-sectorial cooperation among different actors and strong networking coalitions to turn these dire economic challenges into possibilities through social entrepreneurship initiatives which aim at benefiting wide range of citizens, particularly vulnerable groups and those affected by the economic crisis.

Social entrepreneurship is a simple concept that has been put into practice by civil society actors for the benefit of a specific social group or people, and this is precisely what we want: to create projects and initiatives with fresh ideas in different policies, educational programs or tools, support businesses, empower cultural initiatives and offer different solutions to individuals, corporate bodies, everybody who believe that we can have more Creative, Innovative and Cohesive Europe.
