The UxGE Mobility to Brussels took place on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th of July 2025. The Mobility aimed to present the selected winning proposals in each country to decision-makers and to learn first-hand about the European institutions.

The mobility started with a first get-to-know-each-other session on the 7th of July. It included a guided tour in Brussels to get familiarised with the city and its culture. On the 8th of July, UxGE winning proposals from the different partner countries were presented to participants. Afterwards, they had a meeting with decision-makers from the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), where policy experts showcased a wide range of available opportunities within the Erasmus+ programme in the field of youth.

On the 9th, participants visited the European Parliament, where they tested a virtual role-play game, acting as MEPs within all the steps of the legislative procedure to co-create a European Union regulation, experiencing the decision-making process directly from the heart of the European Parliament.

The mobility fully met its goals, allowing youth leaders and participants to present their winning proposals. They engaged in fruitful discussions, debates and activities that deepened their understanding of leadership, critical thinking and its role in sustainability, improving participants’ key competences for their personal and professional development. Furthermore, this mobility has brought participants closer to the work done in EU Institutions and contributed to building a sense of belonging within our European identity by engaging young people in dialogues with policy-makers to improve the lives of citizens across Europe.

The perception of participants after the mobility has positively improved towards inclusive participatory processes in decision-making at the EU level. Participants have experienced first-hand the endeavours of the EP and EC to include citizens in those policy processes and enhanced their understanding of the legislative processes at the European level.

Why Out of the Box International

The seemingly ever-lasting depression of European economies has shaken the very foundations of many European societies. The shear rate of unemployment in Europe and the omnipresent environmental crisis coupled with the often frustratingly slow process of decision making in the EU, are calling for civil society actors to step in and fill the void.

In the aftermath of the 2008. economic crisis, the apprehension of falling under the spell of apathy of economic depression across the continent has not been easy to shake off. However, pinpointing the culprits for the current state of affairs on any particular EU decision maker is not the answer. Nonetheless, the fact remains that the current approach to the economic and environmental crisis hasn’t yet shown the affected citizens the light at the end of the tunnel.

As representatives of the civil society we feel the need to make our voice heard in the midst of the current debate on economic crisis. Being a social enterprise we offer new and feasible ideas in education and community work, creative cross-sectorial cooperation among different actors and strong networking coalitions to turn these dire economic challenges into possibilities through social entrepreneurship initiatives which aim at benefiting wide range of citizens, particularly vulnerable groups and those affected by the economic crisis.

Social entrepreneurship is a simple concept that has been put into practice by civil society actors for the benefit of a specific social group or people, and this is precisely what we want: to create projects and initiatives with fresh ideas in different policies, educational programs or tools, support businesses, empower cultural initiatives and offer different solutions to individuals, corporate bodies, everybody who believe that we can have more Creative, Innovative and Cohesive Europe.
