As part of the 2nd output of the YOUth on Air project, Out of the Box has created 2 radio broadcasts for the “Around Europe in 60 Minutes”. This series of 10 radio broadcasts will serve as a testing tool for the approaches and methodology, produced within IO1 and intended for youth organizations and radio practitioners to mentor and stimulate quality use of radio as a tool in youth work sector.
The main aim of this output is to serve as a pilot activity through which the participants will explore the power of digital radio and its ability to significantly advance the position of youth, which in most communities is not yet being used to its full potential. Furthermore, it will provide the NGOs and radio practitioners around Europe with necessary support for the idea to be realized.
The show “Around Europe in 60 minutes” has been created by online cooperation of all project partners. It is a product of the exchange of knowledge and expertise between the youth and media experts with the aim to look at all of the different ways that radio engages audiences, not only on-air but through “listening to listeners”, especially the young ones.
The participants gathered around the idea of their own online radio called YOUth on AIR which creates a space where young people from the community can air their views and speak freely about issues important to them, putting them in a position to influence decision-making that affects them.
