Songs for Change: Understanding, promoting, and implementing EU values through music
The COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and authority actions have increased public awareness and debate about the values of fundamental rights, with the increasing need to protect and promote human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law, and human rights – core EU values.
The focus of the project is on inclusion and equal opportunities through equipping the project’s main target group – young people with fewer opportunities with knowledge, techniques and competencies for a more self-determined life in which they put their values as priorities and advocate for that.
The project objectives are:
- EU Values: Supporting awareness raising
- Capacity-building: Developing competencies and attitudes, strategies and methodologies in learning through music and in producing songs and videos
- Music: Using music as a means of promoting ideas to peers, communities and the world to bring about change; empowerment tool
- Advocacy: Influencing policies and enabling awareness creation and motivation
The partners will develop a learning model and learning materials to promote EU values through music. These resources include handbooks, a video tutorial program, webinars, workshops and a podcast-based radio station.
The project results will be available in five languages (English, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, and Slovak) for free download from the project website.
The project will run from June 2022 to May 2024.
The project is implemented by 7 partners: INTERNATIONAL E AKADEMIE BERLIN FUR INNOVATIVE PADAGOGIK PSYCHOLOGIE UND OKONOMIE GGMBH ‘’INA’’ (Germany), Associazione di Promozione Sociale YEPP Italia (Italy), Zdruzenie PRE LEPSI ZIVOT (Slovakia), DIKTIO GIA TA DIKAIOMATA TOU PAIDIOU (Greece), Young Educators – European Association (Portugal), Het Wilde Westen (Netherlands) and OUT OF THE BOX INTERNATIONAL (Belgium).
