Street smART – Tackling drug abuse among young people with art
Through this project, we will:
- empower youth workers, youth leaders and artists with creative, social, practical, digital and emotional skills through non-formal education to address social and existential problems among young people through (street) art and support drug prevention processes and programs.
- improve young people’s creative, emotional, social, and practical skills to live a drug-free life.
- raise awareness of the negative impact of drug (and other substances) abuse and provide healthy alternatives
- use art as a drug prevention tool through capacity building training, policy advocacy, local youth-led initiatives (photojournalism, spoken word, songs and dance-offs and murals)
- develop street smART toolkit
- organise a 6-day international training course with 16 participants
- support 12 youth-led advocacy initiatives
- advocate for innovation and creativity in youth work and youth-related strategies, and combating drug abuse by using art
- organize online and physical events to transfer knowledge and create bridges between target groups
Street smART will be implemented by Art of the Box and Out of the Box International from Belgium, Centar za Socijalne Inovacije Centrifuga from Serbia and HTEC Humane from Cyprus from December 2025 – June 2027.
