Although sports unite people of all genders, ages, and backgrounds, and despite progress in gender equality, sports leadership in Europe remains disproportionately male-dominated. This gender imbalance limits diverse perspectives in decision-making, slows progress towards a more inclusive sports sector, and reduces the number of female role models for future generations. To ensure balanced and dynamic sports development and management, it is crucial to foster a new generation of young female sports leaders. However, women in sports leadership roles face significant barriers, including limited access to mentorship, professional networks, and leadership training. Without targeted support, many talented women struggle to advance into managerial roles, reinforcing systemic inequality in sports administration.
HERTURN empowers aspiring female sports leaders with the skills, and knowledge to thrive in decision-making roles. Through expert-led training, mentorship, and peer learning, participants will develop leadership, management, strategic planning, communication and decision making skills. By fostering gender balance in sports management, the project strengthens diversity, inclusion and representation in the sports sector.
